New Dietatry Guidelines after 5 years of study

The Experts from the United States Department of Agriculture and the Department of Health and Human Services have been studying food from 2010 as they release new dietary guidelines for Americans every five years. The last one, obviously was in 2010.

First in March they are going to have the public give their opinions online. THerse experts will examine the comments from the public and later this year they will give out new dietary guidelines. They will be a part of the USDA's MyPlate program.

The things that they are recommending that have stayed the same is the idea of having a more plant-based diet, which was also suggested in 2010. The plant-based diet includes foods such as whole grains, vegetables, seeds, nuts and fruit.

There are some things that are completely different in 2015 than it was in 2010. In 2010, we were told to eat  less than 300 calories a day. According to the 2015 studies, the experts say that cholesterol is now "not a nutrient of concern" but, of course, tt isn't that easy. There are some guidelines that make you not have o worry about cholesterol. They say the cholesterol in food doesn't get in the blood. But if a person is a toddler under three years old then they should have their cholesterol watched.
If you already have high cholesterol or another chronic condition it is best that you consult your doctor and have a chat and see what kind of diet the doctor feels you will be better.
Also Sonya Agelone RDN a registered dietician in the San Francisco Bay area.Says the best way to eat eggs for breakfast is to "Have a scrambled egg, whole grrai toast, and a fruit salad on the side." Her suggestion of how not to eat eggs is that is not to fry and egg in better and then add  butter on the coast that is asking for trouble, as that is way too much.

There is another thing about the new proposed dietary guidelines that was entirely different. Entirely different is that they now say that you can safely have up to three to five cups of coffee with caffeine. When you drink t his many cups of coffee equal to 400 milligrams a day, and no more or else it is too much caffene.. But, of course, that isn't the perfect news for some coffee drinkers. The report is not complete for all coffee drinkers. The report says it says that those who drink coffee should drink it every day adding no sugar and coffee cream or regular milk as that is adding fats and calories to your innocent cup of coffee. And avoid at all costs those fancy coffee drinks like latte's or some of the calorie-laden coffee drinks you can get at your local coffee shop, I won't name names as some of you have different coffee shops that aren't a part of a chain and still give fat and calorie-laden coffee drink.
But never give caffeine to anybody under 21 and children. Should not be allowed to have to have caffeine as it is not good for them!
ONLY 10 percent of our daily calories should come from your diet. Therefore, if your diet is based on 1,800 calories a day, you would be able to be allowed 180 calories  of sugar. To help you, there are 16 calories in a spoonful of sugar.
Also, we should only eat 10 percent of our daily calories from Saturated fat. A one ounce slice of provolone cheese has 5 grams of saturated fat. SO please limit them to 10 percent of your daily calories. A 2,000 calorie a day diet would be 200 calories saturated fat!
